No BS advice to get rich with house cleaning

If you’re dreaming of growing a highly profitable cleaning business but are feeling overwhelmed by all the moving parts… this email is for you.

In a recent video, I broke down my no-nonsense strategy for getting rich with house cleaning. It’s based on my own journey, plus insights from helping over 100 cleaning business owners scale.

Here’s the exact five-step blueprint I shared — all boiled down to under 1,000 words.

1. Focus on One Service Offering

Trying to do it all — house cleaning, carpets, windows, ovens — will kill your momentum.

Instead, pick one niche, ideally recurring house cleaning.

Why? Because:

  • You become an expert in that service.
  • You can create systems that are easier to train and scale.
  • You stop spreading yourself too thin.

Put all your energy into one profitable niche. Add other services later — after you’ve nailed the first one.

2. Use Simple, Over-the-Phone Pricing

In-home quotes are a growth killer.

Here’s the problem:

  • You’re limited by how many quotes you can give per day.
  • It’s time-consuming, costs fuel, and delays client onboarding.

Instead, switch to straightforward phone pricing based on:

  • Number of bedrooms
  • Number of bathrooms
  • Cleaning frequency

You’ll:

  • Close clients faster
  • Avoid unnecessary travel
  • Free up time to handle more leads

Clients love it when they get a quote instantly. You’ll close more sales and grow faster.

3. Answer Every Single Phone Call

This sounds simple, but it’s a massive competitive advantage.

The best leads? They call you directly. And if you miss those calls, you’re flushing revenue down the drain.

Make sure:

  • Every call during office hours is answered (no excuses).
  • You have a professional voicemail if you do miss one.
  • You (or your VA) return calls ASAP.

People trust who they can speak to. And trust is everything when you’re entering someone’s home.

4. Systemise Your Business

Once leads are flowing and cleaners are working, it’s time to get everything out of your head and into a document.

Create SOPs (standard operating procedures) for:

  • Pricing calls
  • Cleaner issues (e.g., lateness)
  • Client feedback
  • Scheduling and rescheduling
  • Interviewing and onboarding new staff

This allows you to:

  • Hand off day-to-day operations to a VA or office manager
  • Focus on growth and strategy
  • Build a business that doesn’t depend on you

Use a simple Google Doc. Track everything you do for a week, then turn those tasks into repeatable processes.

5. Track Your KPIs

Once your team handles the daily grind, your job becomes tracking performance and making smart decisions.

The key metrics to watch:

  • New recurring clients per week/month
  • Client churn rate
  • Cleaner retention
  • Cleaner onboarding stats
  • Lifetime value of clients and cleaners

This lets you quickly spot problems (like a drop in revenue) and fix them fast. You’ll know whether you’re growing or slipping — without micromanaging.

Final Thoughts

Once these five pillars are in place:

  1. One focused service
  2. Simple pricing
  3. Answering every call
  4. Documented systems
  5. Clear KPIs

You’re ready to pour fuel on the fire. That’s when marketing truly pays off.
